Russia bans Isekai anime because it "promotes belief in reincarnation"

Anime has become an inseparable part of our lives from childhood until we grow up. But did you know that Russia recently banned the screening of anime films, especially the isekai genre? Of course this is sad news for fans of the anime and manga genre Isekai (reincarnation) in Russia. This causes them to no longer be able to watch isekai genre anime films such as the popular KonoSuba, That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, and several other anime series because they have been removed from sites in Russia. The order came after a Russian court admitted that isekai anime "promotes belief in reincarnation," which is inappropriate for certain audiences.

Most anime series of this genre hint that "after death, there is a better and more interesting life, free from parental control." Hence, this belief was not something they wanted to show the audience. As a result, they were banned for life from broadcasting all isekai anime that projected this idea to the public. Let's take a deeper look at this issue.

On Monday, the Russian district court of Saint Petersburg announced a total ban on five isekai anime series. This regulation comes under Russian federal law to protect children from harmful information. Discontinued anime series included KonoSuba, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Zombie Land Saga, Nekopara, and Princess Lover.

The announcement came out on the court's official Telegram channel. The court's official press service said that the ban decision was under the consideration of experts. The court also stated that the evidence from those who believe in the concept of parallel worlds is very visible in anime audiences. In addition, the court stated that KonoSuba: God's Blessings in This Incredible World! promotes reincarnation beliefs that project a good world after one's death. They describe life after death as adventurous and magical. Hence, this could cause people to incline more towards the afterlife.
