5 Interesting Theory The Duke of Resident Evil Village You Need To Know!
Ethan Winters' journey in Resident Evil 8 Village has not been easy. Similar to Resident Evil 7, Ethan must face various terrible monsters in order to save the person he loves the most, namely Rose. During the trip, Ethan is assisted by a mysterious man named Duke in Resident Evil Village.

1. A man who has lived in the village for a long time
During travel and shopping time, Ethan hears a variety of things from the Duke. The item shopkeeper often gave Ethan important information such as Rose's location, Mother Miranda's rituals and others.
Knowing this, the players suspected that the Duke had lived in the village for a long time. It could even be that he had lived in the village for a long time before Mrs. Miranda, Mrs. Dimitrescu and the others arrived. It is suspected that the Duke was the original owner of the castle which was occupied by Lady Dimitrescu and her men.

2. Deep Soak Bathtub

The Duke's location for selling his merchandise to Ethan is the only place Lady Dimitrescu and the other antagonistic characters can't enter or pass. Although the Resident Evil game tradition provides a Safe Home, there must be an explanation for this.
As previously explained, it is possible that the Duke was the previous occupant of the castle in Resident Evil Village before Mother Miranda and her men arrived there. Even though the castle owner's rights had changed hands, Lady Dimitrescu still gave the Duke access to any area she wanted and even opened her merchandise shop.
4. Duke Is Not Human Again
Judging from his appearance, the Duke looked like he was no longer human. This is also reinforced by the Duke character art concept which you can see below.
Even though this is just a Duke character art concept, the concept doesn't necessarily pass and makes it a Resident Evil Village game. However, based on the appearance of the Duke character in the game, it is certain that he is no longer human. There was no explanation as to how he could change, whether from the results of Mother Miranda's research or Mold being the same as Ethan.
5. What exactly is Duke?
As I said before, there is no definite explanation how the Duke's body can change until he is no longer human. Is Mrs. Miranda or Mold like Ethan? During one of the moments when Ethan asked the Duke who he was or what, he just answered like this.
"Even I don't know how to answer it myself."
Many players thought Duke wasn't a mutation from Mother Miranda or Mold research like Ethan. Some theorize that Duke is a true supernatural figure, not the result of research by Mrs. Miranda or the pharmaceutical company Umbrella.
If that was true, it could explain that the Duke was the original owner of Lady Dimitrescu's castle. And how the Duke received special services even though Lady Dimitrescu and Mrs. Miranda's other subordinates did not like the decision.
Bonus: Duke's Relationship with Merchants from Resident Evil 4
During one of the moments when Ethan was shopping, Duke mentioned something familiar to fans of the game Resident Evil 4.
"What did you buy? Haha, just something my old friend said." (What do you want to buy? Haha, that's just my old friend.)
Duke mentions the traits of the character The Merchant from Resident Evil 4. Merchants often say "What are you buying" whenever Leon wants to buy something from his merchandise.
It's an easter egg for Resident Evil 4, which shows how popular the game is. Also keep in mind, Resident Evil Village is based on the concept and respect for the game Resident Evil 4.
Based on what the Duke said, it seemed like he and the Merchant were old friends. And the "used" that Duke is talking about is "past tense." That meant the Merchants from Resident Evil 4 were gone. Or maybe the Duke didn't have any connections or information about The Merchant until he thought his old friend had left.
Those are some interesting theories about the Duke character in Resident Evil Village. There are still many theories that I want to explain. However, this theory is too insane and implausible for the world of Resident Evil which focuses on real-life based science fiction.
